• Anna McClure Sholl Anna McClure Sholl Anna McClure Sholl est née le 17 mars 1868 à Philadelphie, fille de William J. Sholl et de Clara Corson Sholl. Elle a étudié à l’université Cornell et a commencé sa carrière d’écrivain au New York Commercial Advertiser en 1896. Sholl a écrit dans une grande variété de genres : poésie, nouvelles, articles de magazines, critiques de livres, contes de fées et romans policiers. Elle se convertit au catholicisme en 1916 et certaines de ses œuvres traitent de sujets religieux.
  
  Sa nouvelle « The Black Roses » a été publiée dans The Black Cat en mars 1904. Comparée à « Rappaccini’s Daughter », l’histoire concerne un scientifique qui utilise son laboratoire pour soumettre des roses à des poisons qui rendent les fleurs noires.
  
  Anna McClure Sholl est décédée le 1^er avril 1956 à New York.
